Silicon Valley Green Building Energy Solution Workshop



Mission

             

With the fast advance of clean energy and green building and technologies and solutions, there is a strong demand on providing a new workforce in building future generation of smart and green buildings in smart cities.

As one of workshop series in clean energy and green building solutions, the primary mission of this workshop program is to establish a unique platform for building constructors and contractors, building owners, and managers at the heart of Silicon Valley, California, USA by providing them with workshops, training programs, and tutorials on green building topics:

• Introduction to Commercial Green Building in California
• Green Building Certificates and Incentive Programs in California
• Smart Energy Solutions for Green Building
• Solar Energy Solutions for Green Building
• Green Building Energy Management Systems and IoT solutions
• Green Building Case Study in San Jose
• Green building on-site tour

There are three major objectives:
Objective #1 – Provide an intuitive training platform and program on energy and green building technologies and service solutions for the public, commercial and industry building managers and owners, and energy and smart building contractors, and SJSU students and faculty.
Objective #2 – Establishing an effective channel to connect our faculty and students with diverse clean energy and green building technology and solution providers.
Objective #3 - Bring a broad-impact on both local and international communities in clean energy technologies and green building solutions.

Program description

This unique program focuses on providing participants with a snapshot of energy green building solutions in six units. Each unit includes two or three topics in 3 hours.

Workshop unit #1: Introduction to Commercial Green Building in California
This workshop unit covers the basic concepts of green buildings in California and discuss the California green building standard code and talk about key requirements and needs for a green building in California.
Topic #1 - An Introduction to California Green Building Codes
Topic #2 - How to convert a Commercial/Industry Building into a Green Building.
 
Workshop unit #2: Green Building Certificates and Incentive Programs in California
This workshop unit covers the California Green Building Certificates for commercial and industry buildings and different incentive and finance programs in California.

Topic #2 - Incentive & Finance Programs for Green Building in California
 
Workshop unit #3: Smart Energy Solutions for Green Building
This workshop unit covers the smart energy solutions for green buildings in California. It focuses on heating & air condition solutions and smart light technologies.

Workshop unit #4: Solar Energy Solutions for Green Building
This workshop unit covers the state-of-the-art solar energy solutions and energy storage technologies for green buildings.

Workshop unit #5:Green Building Energy Management Systems and IoT solutions
This workshop unit covers the state-of-the-art information management system and IoT infrastructure and solutions for green buildings.

Workshop unit #6: Green Building Case Study in San Jose
This workshop unit covers the state-of-the-art solar energy solutions and energy storage technologies for green buildings.
 

In addition, the program also includes:

Green building on-site tour
The workshop program also provides different Green building on-site tours. At least one green building on-site tour will be provided to participants so they will have a chance to learn the real green building cases, and gain some personal visit experience.

C. Energy Management System & Smart lighting & Heating & Air Condition System
 

Furthermore, the program also provides participants and SJSU faculty and students with a great network activities connecting technology vendors and solution providers.

• An introductory tutorial on clean energy and green building as well as a snapshot on existing solutions.
• A program completion certificate.
• A USB including all program information, including PPTs, articles, photos, and project case reports.
